This detailed ground plan provides an intimate look at Chicago’s Graceland Cemetery during the early 1920s. The prominent burial ground was established in 1860 as part of the rural cemetery movement, where tranquil surroundings and winding paths would offer natural consolation for the bereaved. It became one of the preferred resting places for Chicago’s elite, as reflected by names like Marshal Field, Cyrus McCormick, Philip Armour, and Mrs. Potter Palmer. The map is dated 1922 and credited to the Manz Engraving Company in the lower left, though the style of printing and paper indicates this is very likely a later 20th-century reproduction. Possibly produced in 1972 for the 50th anniversary?
