Well-known to fans of the Oregon Trail game, Kearney, Nebraska, is a historic town that was once an important stopover on the prominent route leading west. Fort Kearney was established in 1848, though the town itself would not be incorporated until 1873, a few years after the arrival of the Union Pacific Railroad. This charming promotional map was issued in 1998 to celebrate the city’s 125th anniversary. Numerous local businesses like restaurants, retailers, and professional service providers are illustrated and labeled throughout. Further advertisements are added via hot-air balloons, large signs, etc. An index at the bottom of the page helps the adult audience to locate specific companies, while kids are entertained by a ‘seek and find’ game in the center right. Illustrated by Marshall Peck III, with graphics by Joseph Milanese. Published in 1998 by Towne Crier Marketing, Inc. of Torrington, CT.
